Hey guys!
I haven't posted in a month. Where did I go? I wanted to give you an update with where I am. I've been having an exciting summer!
PIXAR COURSE AND APPLICATION
Last week, I finished up a course on storyboarding, taught by a Pixar Story Artist, Louie Gonzales. It was a very encouraging experience. In my fifth week there, Louie told me Pixar was hiring and told me he wanted me to apply for a job! I was floored (literally I lied down on the floor). He helped me prepare my portfolio and take it in. Now I'm waiting to hear. But even if I don't get it this time it's nice to know he feels I'm competitive, so I'll be sure to try again!
SMALL PRESS EXPO (SPX)
This weekend is the Small Press Expo, held at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel, in Maryland. Come, it's going to be awesome! I'm excited to meet other artists I admire and local folk that I can connect with. I'm also going to have a half-table myself, located at: W30B, along the right hand wall.
If you come to my table, this is what I'm planning to have:
- To look at: my portfolio, Myst book up to page 93
- To take free: cards advertising Myst and Seated Lady, business cards, stickers
- To buy: Prints of my various arts, Seated Lady Part 1, ArtBook 2012
I'm still in the last stages of getting together my stuff. As I just said, I'm going to offer to sell "Seated Lady Part 1", which is the first 23 pages of Seated Lady that I've completed. I didn't want to sell the book until I've finished it all, but I'm not sure exactly when that's going to happen, so here we are! I'm also selling the Artbook 2012 that I took with me to Comic-Con earlier in the summer. The Artbook has most of my favorite paintings, doodles and project sketches from the past few years. I'm pretty proud of it.
MYST COMIC
Between working on the course, client work, and traveling, I haven't had a chance to produce new Myst pages. I'm still working on the script for chapter 5. I'm desperate to get back to it. I'm working hard to get it done, I promise! Thank you all for your patience!
That's my news! Have you guys had a good summer?

I'm back
Hey guys,
I disappeared for a good long while and I’m sorry about that. The short version of my news is this: The printed version of Vol 1 of Myst graphic novel looks really good. I’m happy with the printing. SPX was great. I sold a bunch of books there. Thank you to anyone who bought one, or just stopped by to say hello! I haven’t set up the online store yet, but that’s on the agenda. I will let you know when I’m closer to that.
I’ve been going nutty not producing any new Myst pages for a while. Day job stuff is letting up a bit, so I’m slowly getting back in the saddle. I’ve finished two pag
BIG MYST UPDATE
Hey guys,
I have lots of exciting things to tell you today.
First, I've been doing lots of preparation for the Myst Book of Atrus Comic Vol 1. I've just about settled on a local printer whose work I like. I'm planning on ordering 500 books. My goal is to have them in time to sell at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD on September 14-15. After that I'll need to figure out some online ordering system. I also plan to sell them at the CTN Expo in Burbank, California in November.
I've done a rough layout of the whole book. As per request, I'm going to include some illustrations at the beginning of each chapter. There's going to be an introdu
Self Introduction
I realized that I now have over 1500 followers here on DA! I’m so happy and honored that you guys are following me. I’d like to start posting more, though sometimes I find it hard, maybe because I feel like a stranger. So I thought I’d take a post to introduce myself.
My name is Heather Larkin. I am 28 years old and I live in Washington DC. For my day job, I am a freelance animator and illustrator. I’d really like to work as a storyboard artist for TV or feature films. I’m trying to build up my storyboard portfolio and apply for storyboarding jobs.
Right now, I’m working on an online comic called “M
